Question 7.
7. For my prelim task, I had to create the front cover and contents page of
a school magazine. In comparison my prelim magazine compared to my final music
magazine are very different due to the development in my Photoshop skills. For
my prelim I planned what I thought the magazine should look like and the photos
that I needed to be included in it. I also attempted to use the magic wand tool
for the first time and as a first attempt believe it looked effective, which is
why I developed my skill using this and used it in my final magazine. I feel
that completing the prelim task was an effective way to teach me how to use
Photoshop as it meant that my music magazine's final outcome looked
professional. As the prelim was the first time I had used the Photoshop
software, by using it I would learn and develop new skills on it which would
allow me to create my music magazine to what I think is a good quality.
Question 6.
6. Whilst I designed my music magazine, I
had to learn and develop my skills in order to use new pieces of software,
enable me to edit and enable me to create my music magazine. The first thing
that I did was take photos using the camera. I already knew how to do this in
depth and was able to take high quality photos which I believe look
professional. I also used an SD card to store the photos and upload them to the
computer, which I also knew how to do in great depth as I already had
experience at doing this previously. Then, I had to edit the photos to give
them the effect which I used in my magazine via iPhoto on the Apple Mac. This
app also allowed me to view all of my photos and select the one which I wanted
to edit and use for my magazine.
Question 5.
5. During the creation of my research and planning
I completed, I looked into my target audience and focused on what they would
want to see in a music magazine. I looked through music magazines which are
purchased by people in my target audience and looked at the codes and
conventions which I could see were similar throughout. I also used websites and
blogs to research choices that were made for the magazines. I noted that there
were nicely contrasting colours which worked well together, as well as photos
which were relatable to the target audience as well. All of the magazines had a
modern structure of language used but did not include and slang or youth
terminology showing that the target audience is young adults throughout the
types of magazines.
Question 4.
4. The main target audience of people, who
I believe would listen to my selected genre of music, is young adults from both
genders. The age of this target demographic ages from 16-19 as people of this
age are classified as young adults and they commonly listen to Alt-Rock music.
Both genders listen to the genre of music as. More commonly, people in the age
range I have selected would see alt Rock bands live as well as listening to
their music on a CD, however going to see a band live is trendier and
modernized meaning that it is most likely that they would do this instead.
