2. Whilst completing my Research and
Planning portfolio, I selected an appropriate target audience which I felt that
my magazine would appeal to. I concluded that the typical target audience for
an Alt-Rock magazine would be young adults, both male and female, aged 18-25,
as these are the type of people listening to this music currently. There are
other social groups who widely listen to this genre of music (such as teenagers
aged 15-18), however I concluded that young adults were the dominant social
group who listened to this genre of music. I believed that to make my magazine
stand out and appeal to as wide of a target audience as possible, I had to
focus on the indie, rock of the genre and put these elements into my magazine.
I believe that I have successfully created a magazine which relates to these
social groups as the different techniques are shown on my magazine, such as the
font of the title (ROCK). In order to represent these particular social groups,
I had to use the conventions and forms of the genres throughout my magazine in
depth.
