5. During the creation of my research and planning
I completed, I looked into my target audience and focused on what they would
want to see in a music magazine. I looked through music magazines which are
purchased by people in my target audience and looked at the codes and
conventions which I could see were similar throughout. I also used websites and
blogs to research choices that were made for the magazines. I noted that there
were nicely contrasting colours which worked well together, as well as photos
which were relatable to the target audience as well. All of the magazines had a
modern structure of language used but did not include and slang or youth
terminology showing that the target audience is young adults throughout the
types of magazines.

Question 4.
4. The main target audience of people, who
I believe would listen to my selected genre of music, is young adults from both
genders. The age of this target demographic ages from 16-19 as people of this
age are classified as young adults and they commonly listen to Alt-Rock music.
Both genders listen to the genre of music as. More commonly, people in the age
range I have selected would see alt Rock bands live as well as listening to
their music on a CD, however going to see a band live is trendier and
modernized meaning that it is most likely that they would do this instead.
Question 3.
3. Throughout my Research and Planning
portfolio, I looked in depth at the different types of publishers and media
institutions that have produced music magazines. The key publisher which I
focused my research on was Bauer media as they produce magazines such as Q
which I felt would be relevant to elements of my target audience.
Question 2.
2. Whilst completing my Research and
Planning portfolio, I selected an appropriate target audience which I felt that
my magazine would appeal to. I concluded that the typical target audience for
an Alt-Rock magazine would be young adults, both male and female, aged 18-25,
as these are the type of people listening to this music currently. There are
other social groups who widely listen to this genre of music (such as teenagers
aged 15-18), however I concluded that young adults were the dominant social
group who listened to this genre of music. I believed that to make my magazine
stand out and appeal to as wide of a target audience as possible, I had to
focus on the indie, rock of the genre and put these elements into my magazine.
I believe that I have successfully created a magazine which relates to these
social groups as the different techniques are shown on my magazine, such as the
font of the title (ROCK). In order to represent these particular social groups,
I had to use the conventions and forms of the genres throughout my magazine in
depth.
Question 1.
1. In order to create my Research and
Planning portfolio, research had to be completed in order to find out and learn
about the key codes and conventions of music magazines. I was able to learn and
study about music magazines in lots of ways, but one on the most important was
looking at other music magazines and focusing on the basic conventions within a
variety of them. I used popular music magazines which all had their own unique
design which meant that they were all able to appeal to their own target
audiences. These magazines included, NME, Q, and Rolling Stones. Magazines such
as Rolling Stones were more subtle as they had a basic colour theme along with
a similar font throughout.

Audience Feedback.
Billy Adams- the picture is really good, i really like the facial expression of the person used, the only down side is i would take the background out.
Kirstie Levell- more articles are needed on the contents page, as that is what a contents page should consist of. The image on the bottom right is just floating and i dont know how it relates to, so maybe have a heading with it. The colours used show, what type of magazine it really is.
Karl Graham- more text needs to be on the double page spread, make the questions the colour of your title and black for the writing that way it makes it looks professional.
Terri Louise- more images used on the double page spread, better quality aswell.
Kyle Hughes- make sure you used social network icons on some part of the three templates.
